Unifor Local 52A

The Local Executive oversees all Units. They are the liaisons with Unifor National. Currently our Local has one Unit. The Executive includes the positions elected from all Units:

Unifor Local 52A.01

Unifor Local 52A Unit 1 is directed by an Executive and Board of Directors. These positions deal directly with the Unit's members and with the Employer. The Executive includes the elected positions:

The Board of Directors is comprised of members-at-large from various positions and locations throughout the school district. They sit on the committees that we are involved with.

The Executive and the Board of Directors each hold a monthly meeting to conduct the business of the Local. Unifor Local 52A.01’s By-Laws and the Board of Directors Policies and Procedures manual govern Local business.

•      Information services

•      Recognition (cards/gifts/Mass card/donation) to members who are ill or bereaved

•     Perks for members: Education Bursary, Wellness Bursary, Bursary for a Will, and Scholarships for member's children

•      An annual banquet to honor retirees and long service recipients and provides an opportunity for all members to get together and visit

•      Membership meetings and information sessions

•      Collective Agreement negotiations

•      Liaison with other education support staff locals throughout Canada

•      Charitable donations on behalf of the membership to Edmonton area children's charities (No longer allowed due to Bill 32)

•      A Women's Advocate to provide support resources to members

•      Representation of support staff interests on many school district committees
